Gold Plated Text

  1. Make a beveled button with gold color. Making an elaborate gold color background is the key point of success.
  2. Make a new layer.
  3. Type the text you want.
  4. Cut and Paste the text to put in the middle of the beveled button.
  5. Make 2 copies of this layer and rename as follows from top to botton:
    "Fill"
    "Shadow"
    "Highlight"
  6. Go to "Fill Layer"
  7. With "Preserve Transparency" is checked, fill it with gold color which is your background.
  8. Go to "Shadow Layer"
  9. With "Preserve Transparency" is checked, fill it with "black" to mark shadow area.
  10. With "Preserve Transparency" is UNchecked, move the layer a little bit to the upper left. I assume the light source is from the upper left. You need to adjust the angle according to your light source.
  11. Go to "Highlight Layer"
  12. With "Preserve Transparency" is checked, fill it with "white" to mark the highlighted area.
  13. With "Preserve Transparency" is UNchecked, move the layer a little bit to the lower right.
  14. Now, you got the effects you are pretty much desired.
  15. Try Filter> Render > Lighting Effects.
  16. With Lighting Effects, you can make it either better or worse :-) Keep experiment with it.
