| E87. Six Notebooks I've had |
I've had 6 notebooks so far: One Samsung B&W, One Samsung Color, 2 IBM ThinkPads, Sony Vaio F340, and HP zt1170, and after using HP zt1170, I became comfortable with the mobile computing environment. (There a couple of more older versions of notebook in the 80's which I forgot makers already. Those were with 4-6" CRT screens.)
After using HP zt1170, I feel less urged to use desktops except when I work on computer graphics and animations. As graphics and animations are heavily dependent on 3-D graphics cards, I can't avoid using desktop. But even for CAD work, my 15" notebook does the excellent job of drafting.
15" LCD Panel is not comparable to my 19" flat CRT in terms of screen size and color reproduction, but is still excellent even for CAD work. Back in old days, we were satisfied even with 13" curved LCD, and I still find many notebooks come with 14" LCD.
So I became more dependent on my new notebook. As I usually carry both Vaio F340 and HP zt1170, my computing enviroment is almost perfect and powerful as carrying desktops. Except for battery time, I can't complain anything on HP zt1170, or the technology of present notebook.
