| E70. Storing Good Old Memories: Books |
Today, I've finally decided to put most books on my bookcase in the storage, as I don't read them much. As I'm preparing for mobile offices and work environments, I need to keep my desktops and bookcases as simple as possible.
There are some books which although I don't read much thesedays, I keep it as it reminds of my active and challenging younger days.
Franz Kafka, Albert Camus, Jean Paul Sartre, Existentialism: In my twenties, I tried to decipher the meaning of life through their philosophies, but couldn't understand much. After numerous readings of their works, even reminding their names put me in another world where there is only one word "WHY?".
Mathematical Logic and Set Theory are subjects where I got a motivation to live through the world. I think that's where I deciphered the meaning of life.
Mamthematical Topology and Geometry: As I got a motivation to live through, I needed a motivation to enjoy it and that came from the geometry of the world described through Mathematical Topology and Geometry. Believe me, it's really beautiful.
Those books have been occupied my desktops well over a decade, and I just enjoyed skimming through the titles of those once in a while. Such habit has given a confidence and freshness. Those are what stay deep inside my thinking and mind.
But occasionally, I thought that might be living in the past. More time to live actively and independently lies ahead of me. Although I still do reading actively, I just need to remove some icons which remind me of the past, whether it's good or bad. I just need a fresh look around me.
And I need more room for new stuffs, so some of old stuff should leave to make a room.
Putting away things which I've laid my hands so long was not an easy decision to make, but I just took the plunge of doing it. If I really miss it, I can recover it easily from the storage; but I'm sure I won't.
