| E25. 10 minutes in the morning |
10 minutes in the morning seems not much if you think now. Let's say if you are still in bed in the morning, then sleeping ten more minutes will make you totally recharged. If you leave you home ten minutes earlier than usual, you won't be caught in traffic.
Occasionally I find time to listen to Bach, Mozart, Segovia or any kind of music from my CD collections, and I feel fresh all day long. I mean "occasionally". "Always" is not the case. I still can't figure out why I can't always spare ten minutes of each morning which can make the whole day fully charged.
If you hear your favorite musics for ten minutes in the morning, you could feel fresh all day long. The thing is it is really difficult to have ten minutes of unrushed moments in the morning. Until you leave your doorstep to head for work or school, you're pushed to get out.
When I had to spent all day doing homeworks while at school or when I had to work until midnight to finish up the projects on time, I could bear it easily if I had that pleasant ten minutes in the morning.
If I feel fresh and recharged, I could do work more smoothly. If someone makes an error, I can be more relaxed in accepting it. If you are pressured or else, you become oversensitve to someone's errors and easily agitated, don't you? That's why I try to have a fresh feeling from the morning to keep the emotions untouched by others.
After being rushed to school or work, idling twenty or thirty minutes is common. Sometimes even wasting the whole afternoon without doing much brings little regrets. At such a time, I usually wished I'd spent 10 minutes in the morning listening to my favorite music. Listening to music is the cheapest and easiest way for me to relax and to dissolve the stress.
I can't remember when was the last time I spent ten minutes in the morning to listen to music to start the day, (or whatever method which you use to make you fully charged). I still exchange ten minutes of music with sleeping in the morning. I'm pretty sure it was quite a while ago. I can find ten minutes throughout the day easily, but only occasionally before I leave home. When I have those ten minutes makes the big difference.
At least I'm happy that I can have such a time while driving listening to car audio. But the effect is not as fresh as before I leave home.
How you enjoy your day is totally up to you, not to anyone else. Enjoying life is not necessarily mean going outdoors over the weekend or playing golf in every afternoon. As for me, ten minutes in the morning has been just enough not to look for alternatives. (Nov-9-97)
