E135. Silicon Valley Years

I lived and worked in computer industry in Silicon Valley in Northern California between early 1999 and late 2003, during which time I saw the internet bubble expanding and collapsing as people call it.

Considering my overall career-track, that was a bad move for me go to Silicon Valley, as I degraded my corporate status from one of few senior corporate IT management strategy consultant in Los Angeles to one of those senior systems engineers.

One wrong position landed me the next wrong position, which made me difficult to step up again. Although the positions were prestigeous within the companies, those were not in my direction at all, and I had to change the direction at some point later on, by that time I had a significant damage on my career-track.

As those positions were prestigeous and I was well-treated from those positions, I couldn't give those up easily hoping some good come into my way. Well, I paid the price of not being aggressive enough.
