E129. Visual Essays or Photo Essays

My Visual Essays section was started with my hand-drawn illustrations and graphics, and was to be evolved into web comics and storyboards for my hand-drawn works. This functioned as my web portfolio to commission for animation and graphics projects.

I uploaded my first homepage in 1994, and updated it gradually and continually over the years, and many visited my site.

But for my graphics work, I noticed that my valuable graphics works were not only copied illegally, but also credited to infringers in some cases, thus I lost the ownership for some of my own works in addition to my original ideas were stolen.

After several such nightmares, I removed all my graphics, illustrations, storyboards and graphic novels from my website to protect my own works.

After that, rather than removing the section, I started to put photos I took, which is still under visual essay, but as the section grows, the name should be changed to "Photo Essays" which truly represents what it is now. "Photo Essay" is a subset of "Visual Essay", and as there are many medium other than photography to narrate visually,

With 8,000 files and 500 MB of files, renaming all those becomes a pain, so I still keep the name "Visual Essay", but wrong nomenclature makes it difficult for me to put more photos and graphics.
